About Žrnovo

Spread across the hills above Korčula town, Žrnovo is crowned by its rich history, from local fairy tales to rural architecture, traditional food, and vegetation.

 A breath-taking landscape with interesting vegetation surrounds the village. Magical protected nature park - Kočje is a must-visit. Take a break from enyoing all the Villas facieletis and explore the mistery stone mazes while absorbing the energy of vibrant green vegetation.

Nature lovers will be in their element with cycling and walking routes surrounding Žrnovo. Numerous trails provide peace, even at the peak of the season.

 One of the most beautiful, untouched beaches on the island is located in the bays of Žrnovo. Defora- locally called, is a region on the south-east side part of the island, featuring several secluded bays and beaches. No signal, no internet- only crystal clear blue waters and cricket songs.

 The village plays a big part in the gastronomy of the island. Did we mention that the famous Žrnovski makaruni origined  from Žrnovo? Every year for one day in August, huge pots of boling pasta sauce are cooked, and pasta is hand-rolled on the streats of Žrnovo.

About Korčula Island

South Dalmatia preserves an island of extraordinary natural beauty, lush, dark green forests and a coast indented by a series of bays and coves, which, along with numerous cliffs, shoals and islets, hides a marvelous white sand bathed in turquoise blue sea.

 According to legend, Korkyra was a nymph who was turned into an island paradise by a jealous Poseidon. Korčula or Korkyra Melaina, as the ancient Greeks called it, is a jewel of historical heritage, which is best reflected in the town of Korčula, the birthplace of the world traveler Marco Polo.

The Moreška knightly dance, which is traditionally danced in Korčula, is a unique experience that you can only enjoy on this island.

If you head towards Lumbarda and its famous beaches Pržina and Bilin žal, on your way you will find numerous villages and hamlets  where you can taste local olive oil, sweeten yourself with dried figs or almonds, and toast with top Korčula wines. In the vicinity of Lumbarda, Greek dessert wine is produced from grapes that grow from the sand, while in the vicinity of the  village of Čara, pošip grapes are grown, from which top quality wines are made.

 Vela Luka looks towards the nearby island of Hvar, and was populated near the Neolithic site of Vela Špilja.

Small fishing villages like Gršćica, Prižba and Brna will win you over at first glance.

Beautiful beaches like Pupnatska luka, Žitna and Tri žala you will definitely want to save in your photo album. For all those who want to find a piece of paradise just for themselves, there are beautiful small islands around Korčula- Vrnik,Badija,Stupe, whose hidden charms are just waiting to be discovered.

Korčula is a Historic fortified town on the protected east coast of the island of Korčula. The old city is surrounded by walls, and the streets are arranged in a herringbone pattern allowing free circulation of air but protecting against strong winds.

The town's historic sites include the central Gothic and Renaissance Cathedral of St Mark, the Town Hall, and the massive city fortifications. The old town of Korčula is one of the most important and best-preserved urban complexes in the Adriatic.

It is just about a few hundred meters long and under one hundred meters wide which makes it easy to walk around and explore its streets, old houses, palaces, churches, museums, and town walls. 

 Korčula's medieval squares with harmonious stone houses and towers, due to their exceptional beauty, are often compared to the nearby world-famous Dubrovnik.
